How to install your Pole Wraps

Installing your Pole Wraps at home is easy! All you need is strong hands and a heat gun (not a hair dryer, unfortunately!) or boiling water. Follow the step-by-step tutorial with video demonstration:
Step 1: Remove your pole baskets. Most pole baskets pull off with some amount of force and twisting, and some are easier than others. Grasp the basket firmly with one hand, and the pole firmly with the other. While twisting the pole, apply force on the basket to pull it off the end of the pole.
Step 2: Slide on your Pole Wrap! The Pole Wrap should slide over the basket mount with a few millimeters of clearance. Pull the wrap all the way towards the handle of your pole as best you can.
Step 3: Trim your Pole Wrap to length. You will want the wrap to fit neatly between the handle and the basket mount, so make a note of this length. I like to pull the top of the wrap to near the handle and make a small slice with scissors at the top of the basket mount.
Step 4a: Shrink your Pole Wrap onto your pole using a heat gun. With the wrap in place, use the heat gun on full heat, and about 6 to 8 inches away from the wrap. Apply the heat down one length of the pole, then turn the pole over and apply it to the other side. If there are wrinkles in the wrap, you can apply heat directly to those areas to reduce some of the wrinkling. Note that if you hold the heat gun too close or for too long in the same area, the wrap may begin to melt and holes will appear.
Step 4b: Shrink your Pole Wrap onto your pole using boiling water. With the Pole Wrap in place, find a safe area where you can pour boiling water over your pole (bath tub, sink, outdoors). Pour the boiling water over the Pole Wrap starting at one end and making your way to the other. The Pole Wrap will shrink to fit as soon as the boiling water touches it.
Step 5: Re-install your ski pole basket. Push your basket firmly back onto your ski and inspect that it is fully seated in the basket mount. You are now ready to ski in style!
